The Dowdell Library Foundation periodically hosts events to raise support for Library activities.

DVD Drive

Bring your unwanted DVDs, Blu-Rays, CDs and video games in good condition to the library, Madura’s Pharmacy or the Y.


Past Events

Wine Tasting - February 2011

The Foundation hosted a fun evening for supporters to sample wines of the New York Finger Lakes. Donations from the event were used to expand the Library’s DVD and media collection.

Barbara Frank of the Dr. Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars led the wine tasting for friends and supporters of the library.
DVD Drive - January-April 2011

The Foundation collected DVDs, Blu-rays, music CDs, Wii games from the community. Nearly 500 items were contributed to supplement the Library’s media collection.

Library Day at Sciortino’s - July 2011

Sciortino’s partnered with the Foundation to donate a percentage of checks for diners who presented a Foundation flyer. The funds were used to purchase an online teaching center for the Library.

TGI Friday partnered with the Foundation to donate a percentage of checks for diners who presented a Foundation flyer. The funds were used to purchase an online teaching center for the Library.

Dunk a Politician - October 2011

The Foundation raised funds through a dunking booth at the South Amboy Street Fair. People dunked well-known figures of South Amboy, including former Mayor John O’Leary and City Councilman Mickey Gross as well as South Amboy High School teacher and coach Tony Gonsalves. The booth was made possible thanks to generous donations from State Assemblyman John Wisniewski and Dosils Scuba Shop of Middletown. The funds were used to purchase an online teaching center for the Library.

Library Day at Broadway Bistro - February 2012

Broadway Bistro partnered with the Foundation to donate a percentage of checks for diners who presented a Foundation flyer. The funds were used to purchase an online teaching center for the Library.

Library Day at Texas Roadhouse - August 2012

Texas Roadhouse partnered with the Foundation to donate a percentage of checks for diners who presented a Foundation flyer. The funds will be used to purchase new computers for the Library.

Chocolate Tasting - October 2012

The Foundation sponsored a chocolate tasting and silent auction with co-sponsors 2 Chicks with Chocolate and Raritan Bakery. Participants included Gertrude Hawk, Harold’s, LaBonbonniere, Maureen’s Candy, Melting Pot, Reo Diner, Sipo’s Bakery,Thomas Sweet and Valrhona. The funds will be used to purchase new computers for the Library.
