Since its founding, the Foundation has applied for numerous grants and worked with private donors to begin to build an endowment for the Sadie Pope Dowdell Public Library

Your Donations at Work
Children’s Kindles:

In September 2013, the Foundation made a $2,000 grant to the Dowdell Library to purchase 10 e-readers for the Children’s Room to be loaded with early reading material for children’s literacy.

XBox Galaxy:

In July 2013, the Foundation made a $500 grant to the Dowdell Library to purchase an XBox Galaxy program to enhance the library’s entertainment center.

Early Literacy Center:

In June 2012, the Foundation made a $1,059 grant to the Dowdell Library to purchase an early childhood learning station to give South Amboy children a head start in reading, writing and math.

 
Online Learning Center:

In December 2011, the Foundation made a $1,543 grant to the Dowdell Library to purchase an online software teaching center that will provide coaching for SAT, AP, GED and citizenship tests as well as job search and workplace skills

Media Grant:

In August 2011, the Foundation made a $2,000 grant to the Dowdell Library to enhance its collection of DVDs, games and music CDs.

DVD Drive:

The Foundation collected DVDs, Blu-rays, music CDs and Wii games from the community in January-April 2011. Nearly 500 items were contributed to supplement the Dowdell Library’s media collection.

The Brey Family of South Amboy made a donation to the Foundation of $5,000 toward computers for patron use in the Library.
